As moms, we often get lost in the shuffle of life. From work, to cooking, cleaning, doctors’ appointments, school activities, and homework we begin to lose ourselves. Because of these roles, we sometimes neglect one of the most important relationships that truly matters, our relationship with God. As the busyness of life takes over, those much needed quiet moments with God become almost non-existent. Then you feel the tug of God calling you closer. The children finally get put to sleep, you lie exhausted in your bed, yet longing for that moment in His presence.
I recently found myself in this crazy place in life. The busyness of life overwhelmed me and I lost myself as well as those intimate moments with the Father. In that place, I forgot who I was, who I belonged to, and lost sight of my purpose. I lost my identity. The voices and opinions of others mattered most to me. However, one night, it all changed.
This night, my spirit was disturbed and I felt that something wasn’t quite right. I tried to sleep but found myself extremely restless. I knew that I had lost myself and truly needed a moment with the Father. I finally got out of bed and went into my prayer space. I pulled out my journal, and wrote my heart out to God. I wrote, I prayed and I worshiped the Father. Once I was finished, I simply rested. In Matthew 11:28-29, Jesus says, “Come to me, all of you who are tired and have heavy loads, and I will give you rest. Accept my teachings and learn from me, because I am gentle and humble in spirit,
and you will find rest for your lives.” This scripture came alive to me, because in that moment, I truly felt rest and peace.
The following day, something was different. Throughout the day, God continued to speak to me and give me revelation. I silenced my heart and mind to hear God and suddenly His voice became very clear to me. Not only did His voice become clear, but my purpose, identity, and confidence in Christ did as well. It all changed from ONE moment in His presence.
I would like to encourage all mothers who may feel lost, depleted and simply yearning for that moment in His presence to do what you were created to do and WORSHIP! He desires to talk with you in the cool of the night. Remember, a night with the Father can change everything.
